KOKRAJHAR: To provide jobs to unemployed youths through skill development, the department of Tourism, BTC has selected 20 youths from four districts to send them for training on hospitality and hotel management. The tourism department held a meeting with the selected youths at the conference hall of CHD office of tourism in Kokrajhar regarding the aims and objectives of the council government over livelihood mission.

Talking to media persons, the EM of Tourism, Dharma Narayan Das said the department had conducted a selection trial for the interested youths on short term training for hospitality and hotel management services and as many as 20 students of BTC districts have been selected for the training. He said they would be sent to the Food and Craft Institute (FCI), Samuguri in Nagaon for 6 months and 16 months training on hotel management and hospitality. He also said FCI was a well known institute for placement.

Das said demand for hospitality and hotel management have increased across the nation and the same demand is increasing in BTC too in hotels and resorts in national parks, tourist hotspots and cities and towns. He said many hotels and resorts have come up in Manas National Park and in important tourist destinations where services of hospitality and management are required to a great extent. The hospitality and management services are in great demand in private hotels and guest houses and they provide handsome salaries, he said adding that youths will get the opportunity for their livelihood after successful completion of their short-term training on hospitality and hotel management.

Meanwhile, the government of BTC has taken up various initiatives for the unemployed youths under Bodofa Livelihood Mission. The youths are given skill training in various sectors to make them self-reliant. Some of the trainees have been sent to other states for training in different sectors. The council government provides financial and required assistance to start their respective trades.
